Casey Harrison, founder of The Dyslexia Classroom and Wimberley Dyslexia and Learning Center, is a Certified Academic Language Therapist (ALTA), Licensed Dyslexia Therapist (TX, ALTA), Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist (IDA), and a Qualified Teacher with over 27 years of experience. She works with parents, teachers, and PK-12th grade students at her private practice, providing dyslexia therapy, literacy instruction, consultations, resources, and training. Casey also sits on the National Board at-large of the Academic Language Therapy Association. In addition to her private practice, she has a podcast, Together in Literacy, which focuses on dyslexia, literacy instruction, and the whole child. She is a national presenter and author of Teaching Beyond the Diagnosis - Empowering Students with Dyslexia (release 2025). She is a national presenter covering dyslexia and literacy. Casey's unwavering dedication to advocating for all students, especially those with dyslexia, and her efforts in highlighting the connection between academics and the social-emotional well-being of students with learning differences is evident in her work. She resides in Wimberley, Texas, with her husband, their three daughters, and many animals in their little slice of the country.

Katy Vassar is a Certified Academic Language Therapist and Qualified Instructor. She received her Bachelor's from the University of Texas, majoring in Special Education, and her Master's in Special Education specializing in Dyslexia and Educational Diagnostician through Midwestern State University. She received her dyslexia therapist training at the Scottish Rite Dyslexia Center of Austin and became a Qualified Instructor. Katy has worked at the elementary and secondary levels as an educator and therapist for the last 17 years. She currently works privately with students providing dyslexia therapy, trains educators, and provides psychoeducational assessments. Katy is passionate about her work with children and is dedicated to supporting students with dyslexia and other learning differences.
Certified Academic Language Therapists (CALT) are specially trained to work with language-based learning differences, such as dyslexia and dysgraphia. They have completed an intensive training in multisensory structured language through a program that is accredited through International Dyslexia Association (IDA) and/or International Mult
Certified Academic Language Therapists (CALT) are specially trained to work with language-based learning differences, such as dyslexia and dysgraphia. They have completed an intensive training in multisensory structured language through a program that is accredited through International Dyslexia Association (IDA) and/or International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council, IMSLEC. The therapist level standards require that a CALT complete a 220 course contact hours in an accredited program, complete a minimum of 700 clinical teaching hours, complete 10 demonstration lessons, and pass the Alliance National Registration exam for Multisensory Structured Language Education. In addition, to maintain one's license as a CALT, they must complete 10 hours of continuing education each year.

Suzanne Wallace is an Academic Language Therapist. She graduated from North Texas University with a BA in Biology and with a teaching certification in secondary education. She became an Academic Language Therapist when her daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia in 1987. For the past 23 years, she has been involved in the inner city of Dallas with non-profit organizations and helping lead Behind Every Door, overseeing literacy, social-emotional health and enrichment. After moving to Wimberley, Suzanne joined the team at WDLC and serves students in the area of dyslexia and literacy. She and her husband, John, have three children and eight grandchildren whom they love spending time with.

She graduated in 2014 with her Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University. She has her Masters in Christian School Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth,

She has her Masters in Christian School Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Charissa is passionate about providing support for her students and parents. She loves helping struggling students with reading and other learning disabilities. Charissa offers virtual therapy options and is a fantastic addition to the WDLC team.
